Hokies, Gordon Unite Forces

Virginia Tech's list of potential guard targets was a long one. Last weekend, the Hokies took steps to shorten the list and by the end of the weekend, one prospect emerged and committed.

Gordon Commits On Visit

Last weekend, while the Virginia Tech football team was scoring a big win over Louisiana State, the basketball team was doing some scoring of its own.

Guard Jamon Gordon visited the Hokies and according to his Lee Bulls AAU coach David Jones, committed to the Hokies on the visit.

"They've been on him for a while," Jones said. "Jamon came up and talked to me two and a half weeks ago about them. He had talked to some people about the area and all of the sudden as soon as he got back in town he said he committed to them."

Youngstown State and West Virginia were showing a lot of recent interest. Wake Forest, Georgia Tech and Florida State were on him early but had dropped out.

Gordon was an all-star at the Five-Star Hampden-Sydney event in the summer. The Hokies plan on using him at both guard spots. "He's so versatile," Jones said. "He's such an unselfish player. Jamon makes everyone around him a whole lot better. Once he has the ball in the middle of the court he makes them better."
