Garibay Still Open

Edgar Garibay, one of the top junior post prospects in the west, took an unofficial visit to Louisville recently, but tells us that he really hasn't started to narrow down his list of schools just yet...

Edgar Garibay, 6-10 JR C Compton (Calif.) High, is one of the most sought-after big men in the West Coast class of 2008. We spoke with Garibay recently and he listed the main schools involved in his recruitment at the moment.

"USC, Louisville, Arizona State, UCLA, Memphis and Washington State," said Garibay.

We asked him which schools have offered a scholarship.

"USC, Louisville, ASU, Memphis and Washington State have all offered," said Garibay.

Garibay took an unofficial visit to Louisville recently and he talked a little about his visit.

"It was real cool," said Garibay. "I liked the facilities and they had good people there. The coaches are good and the players were cool. I got to spend some time with Derrick Caracter and he told me it was a good place to get focused and work on your game."

We asked Garibay if he has a leader.

"No, they're all still even right now," said Garibay.

Garibay said he may take some more trips after his season ends.

"I was talking with my coach about maybe taking a visit to Arizona State after the season is over," said Garibay. "And I might visit Memphis when the season ends also."

Garibay talked a little about what he's looking for in a school.

"I want to go somewhere that will do a lot of individual work with me – someplace that can help me get to the next level," said Garibay. "I'd like to go someplace that has good facilities and good coaching, where I can showcase my talent."

Garibay said he plans on making his decision after the summer, but before his senior season begins.
