Bell Picks Marquette
Brandon Bell made his decision on Tuesday and ended his recruitment. He picked Marquette over Pittsburgh. In doing so, he reunited with a guy he was very familiar with.
Marquette head coach Tom Crean recruited Bell's brother Charlie to Michigan State. Crean left the Spartans for Marquette after Bell's junior year but there's no doubt his relationship with the family had a major impact.
"I think that had a big part to do with it," Southwestern coach Jeff Whitely said. "Dwayne Stephens being from [Michigan] State helped too."
Bell, a member of our Top 100, is one of those guards with plenty of intangibles. First and foremost, he can really stroke it. He plays with confidence and savvy and judging from his game and family history, you know he's a winner.
Bell is part of a recruiting class that consists of Dameon Mason and James Matthews.
"I haven't seen a lot of the other guys play, but I've seen some on film. He's as good as any point guard in his class," Whitely said. "He's a tough competitor and a well-rounded player."
