Jamaal Tatum will play his college basketball at Southern Illinois. He recently made an official visit to the school and basically fell in love. He didn't expect to commit so soon.

"I really didn't," Tatum said. "I was planning on taking all of my visits. I told myself wouldn't commit and ended up doing it 10 minutes before I left." Tatum had official visits scheduled with Nebraska, Creighton and Utah but cancelled the trips.

"Basically, I just liked it so much and knowing they are a top program helped. I know they can win some games. It's close to home and I know I can come in and play."

Tatum averaged 26 points a game last year. He helped the St. Louis Eagles to a surprise championship at the 2002 Super Showcase in Orlando.
