Lucas Targets End of Month

The madness of March gets magnified slightly when guys like Jai Lucas and Patrick Patterson are still on the board. Lucas told Scout.com he could pop in March.

Jai Lucas remains the supreme backcourt catch of the spring period … at least for a few more weeks. Scout.com caught up with Lucas Saturday morning to check in on his status.

"I'm done taking campus visits," Lucas said. Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Kentucky and Maryland are the contenders and likely within the next two weeks he'll trim the list even more.

Lucas said he hadn't given much thought to announcing at the McDonald's game, did indicate he could decide before month's end. The Bellaire guard is as savvy as they come as you'd expect the son of an NBA player and coach to be.

Lucas said that right now he doesn't have a decision in his mind and couldn't decide if he had to. He surely wasn't ready to divulge any leader but we asked him which coach had done the best job recruiting him.

"I'd have to say Coach Capel has," Lucas said. "He's been on me 100%."

One factor that is going to play a very big deal in his decision will be the style. "The (one) thing that I can't do without is tempo. With me being 5-foot-10, we've got to be able to get up and down."

Lucas' season is over as his team bowed out in the state quarterfinals.
