A-10 Program Scores Junior Guard

Mark Lyons is off the board. The 2008 combo guard is headed to the Atlantic-10 where's going to play for a program that recently got it done in the NCAA's.

The Xavier Musketeers, in need of replacing backcourt talent, struck with a solid commitment on Friday from the Class of 2008.

Sean Miller's club added Mark Lyons, a 6-foot-1 combo guard out of Kent (Conn.) South Kent.

"It was a perfect fit," Cheeks said. "They have the number one graduation rate in the country and I want to graduate."

St. John's, Clemson, UNLV, Seton Hall, Massachusetts and Washington were among the interested parties.

"All of the big schools they wanted me to come in and be a role player, but Xavier wanted me to come in and be an impact player."

"Cheeks" took an unofficial recently and spent time with the coaches and players.

""It was good. Coach Miller was an All-American. He understands it from a point guard perspective and he's going to let me come in and play."
