Frease Joins Strong Class

Sean Miller and the Xavier crew are in the process of locking down an outstanding recruiting class. On Tuesday night, one of the key pieces fell in place for the Musketeers.

The Xavier coaching staff is flat out getting it done. After receiving verbal commitments from Brad Redford and Mark Lyons last week, they picked up a huge commitment from Top 25 ranked Kenny Frease.

The 6-foot-11, 245-pound center was watching TV with his mom Tuesday evening, when it hit him.

"I was sitting in my family room watching "House" and I had just got down studying for a chemistry test and I was talking to my mom I was just like ‘mom I know where I want to go.'"

Frease, who is ranked as the 4th best center by, picked the Musketeers over Notre Dame, Kentucky and Michigan State. The tight relationship that he developed with Xavier's coaching staff proved to be the key factor.

"From the beginning I fell in love with the coaches, all of assistant coaches and all of the behind the scenes guys. I really like all of those guys and the players.

"The people that have committed there recently have really helped too. Getting to know Dante Jackson more has really helped. I really formed a relationship with him and that definitely helped."

The Massillon (OH) Perry standout said he plans to fill any role that the Xavier coaching staff has for him.

"I'm just going to work my hardest and hope everything works out for me. I know that I didn't make the wrong choice - it's just what I do with it now.

This summer Frease will play alongside Delvon Roe for the King James Shooting Stars. He also plans to attend the Nike skills camps.
