Coach Says Three Involved
Kanimba Diarra is a work in progress but, according to his high school coach, he's progressing.
"He was more of a rebounding and defensive type of presence last year," New American coach Ron Stelzer said. "He's definitely been improving. He's ready to blossom. He certainly has the physical tools to do it." At 6-9 and 230 pounds, there's little doubt about that.
So far, Stony Brook, St. Joseph's and South Florida have shown the most interest. All three are coming into town for in-school visits with him.
"I don't know if he's down to those three, but he doesn't want to get his mind too cluttered." Each school has asked for an official visit.
In other New American news, Stelzer says that star swingman Oumar Sylla is firmly committed to Valparaiso.
Junior big man Juan Diego Tello Palacios, a native of Columbia and Top 25 player, is being hit hard by tons of high major programs. We think Palacios is a Top 25 prospect entering the school year.
