Marques Coleman Still Open

Marques Coleman, a 6-3 junior point guard from Arizona, has very good size for the position, as well as exceptional instincts. A number of high major programs, including a few in the Pac-10, are showing early interest in Coleman...

Marques Coleman, 6-3 JR PG Glendale (Ariz.) Cactus, is a very intriguing young prospect with an outstanding feel for the game. Coleman is a true point guard, with very good vision and passing ability. His outside shot still needs work, but if he improves in that area, then he'll be among the top players at his position in the west.

We spoke with Coleman recently and he gave us an update on his recruitment.

"I haven't really narrowed it down yet," said Coleman. "I'm hoping that I can start to narrow it down in the near future. I'm hearing from a lot of schools. I talked with the Penn State coach yesterday. Other schools that I've been talking to include Nevada, UC Irvine, Oregon, Stanford, St. Mary's, Cal and Portland."

We asked Coleman if any schools have offered yet.

"No, they've been telling me they want to watch me in the Easter Classic (April 5th-8th) in Las Vegas and then things may start to happen," said Coleman.

Coleman has yet to take any visits. We asked if he has an idea of which schools he's pretty sure he'll visit.

"The Penn State coaches have been saying they want me to take an unofficial visit," said Coleman. "I'm pretty sure I'll visit Stanford, Cal and Nevada."

We asked Coleman if he feels like he's getting close to a decision.

"Maybe a little closer than before, "said Coleman. "But I think I may be ready to decide by the end of summer."

Coleman told us previously that he has a 3.9 GPA.
