Latest On Garrett Sim

Garrett Sim, a talented junior guard from Oregon, has a couple offers from schools in the WAC and the WCC. Numerous other high major programs, though, are recruiting the sharp-shooting lead guard.....

Garrett Sim, 6-0 JR PG/SG Portland (Ore.) Sunset, is a very skilled and savvy young prospect. He's got a sweet stroke out to the stripe and an advanced feel for the game. We spoke with Sim recently and asked about the schools expressing interest in him.

"I've been hearing from Washington State, Stanford, Oregon State, Oregon, Cal, Boise State, Portland and Montana," said Sim. "Boise State and Portland have offered."

We asked Sim if he has a feel for which schools have been recruiting him the hardest.

"Washington State and Stanford have been recruiting me pretty hard," said Sim.

Sim has yet to set up any visits with schools. We asked him if he has any schools in mind for probable visits.

"I'm pretty sure I'd like to visit the Pac-10 schools," said Sim. "Also, probably Montana."

We questioned Sim about the factors he'll consider when making his choice.

"I want to fit in with the system they run -- I'm looking for a place with good guard play," said Sim. "Location is not really an issue."

Sim told us he has a 3.75 GPA and he'll take the SAT in May. He'll play with the Portland Panthers this spring and summer.
