The ultra-athletic 6-foot-7, 225-pound Brewster Academy (N.H.) junior forward, who told Scout.com last week that his intention was to hold off another month until making a final decision, called Arizona Lute Olson and gave the Wildcats a commitment on Sunday.
``I feel free right now," Negedu said immediately after making the call. "I feel very relieved."
``I've liked Arizona for a long time," he added. "I like the school, the coaches and the community. But I just wanted to be really sure."
Negedu (Scout.com, No. 39) also considered Tennessee, Louisville, Indiana and New Mexico. Brewster coach Jason Smith said mentioned that Ohio State and Florida tried to get involved after Kingwood last weekend.
Olson envisions Negedu as somewhat of a Bennett Davison-type player. He's athletic, plays extremely hard and just outworks the opposition.
Negedu, who came over from Nigeria nearly three years ago, has improved significantly under the tutelage of Smith. Negedu's perimeter game was virtually non-existent when he arrived and now he's able to knock down shots with consistency.
