Williams Wants His Respect

Latavious Williams, a Top 100 prospect, hasn't been offered by the local school in his recruitment. However, he's got a handful of suitors nationally.

Latavious Williams, a Scout.com Top 100 prospect, hails from Starkville (Miss.) High. That's right, Starkville High School, a feeder school for the big SEC boys in the same town.

Does that mean the 6-foot-8 power forward is a lock to stay and play with the hometown crew? "Mississippi State has been looking at me but they haven't offered me yet," Williams said. "I don't what they're waiting on. I don't know what I have to do to make them offer me. I think they will but it'll be later on in the year."

Williams told Scout.com last week that Xavier has offered him. Connecticut is showing interest and so is Clemson.

The Birmingham Raptors forward is excited about the upcoming spring and summer events. "I want to get better and play other people. I want to see how other people look."

Williams is all about measuring himself. "I've played better kids and I dropped them down but I don't get ranked (high enough). I want to see how the other people look."

Williams was ranked No. 76 by Scout.com prior to the spring.
