"Leonard Hamilton has something really good going there," Loucks said. "My family and I are really excited to be a part of that. They¹ve always kind of been the leader. I enjoy talking to all of their players. It just felt like the right fit."
Loucks picked FSU over Georgia Tech, Mississippi, Tennessee, South Florida, St. Joseph and Central Florida. The Seminole coaching staff and their development of players played the biggest role in his decision.
"We were just most comfortable with them and their staff. They always bring in great recruiting classes."
"One of the big differences is how much player development they have there. Coach Andy Enfield, he¹s done a great job with NBA players before he got to Florida State and that was a big selling point for them."
According to Loucks, Leonard Hamilton recruited him as a set up point guard. The FSU coach told him he has always had scoring point guards, however they are looking to utilize Loucks in a different way.
"I¹ll be the pass first guy and help them set up their offenses and be a guy that they haven¹t had recently. Nothing against scoring first point guard, but sometimes you need a guy that can come in a run the team and get everyone involved."
Loucks, who led Clearwater to a 25-5 record, averaged 16 points and 8 assists last season.
