Shumpert, possibly the fastest riser in the Class of 2008, will embark on an ACC flavored journey. "I'm going out to Clemson next Thursday and then I'll end at Georgia Tech either Friday or Saturday," Shumpert told Scout.com.
Recently, he tripped to Marquette, a program with a history of pulling late bloomers out of the Chicago-area (see D-Wade).
"They live basketball up there," Shumpert said. "That's what they do. Everything is connected to basketball up there. They don't have football so that's what the people come to see. Kids wake up and shoot around. The coaches are crazy and they watch basketball all day and that's one of the places I can see myself."
One of the big questions surrounding Shumpert deals with who is actually in good shape on his list. In the past, he's rattled off Illinois, Bradley, Wisconsin, Michigan, Notre Dame, Northwestern, Tennessee and Wisconsin in addition to the schools he's visited.
However, a hot spring has led to multitudes of increasing interest from big name programs across the nation. "North Carolina, Florida, Connecticut, Virginia, Washington State, UCLA, Virginia Tech, Kansas," Shumpert said in response to who is attempting to get into the mix.
The plan is simple: trim the list to 6 programs soon and go from there. "As soon as I can sit down with my AAU coach, head coach and dad I'll be able to put the list out publicly."
Throughout the process, Shumpert has shown a tendency to be loyal to the schools that were on him hardest first.
