Sim Has Plenty Of Options

Garrett Sim, a talented junior combo guard from Oregon, has three offers to date. Several high major West Coast programs have started to express interest and he has a couple unofficial visits scheduled for later this month...

Garrett Sim, 6-0 JR PG/SG Portland (Ore.) Sunset, hasn't received much national exposure, but he's one of the better kept secrets in the class. Sim has a terrific feel for the game, a very good shot and a live body. Unlike some of older, physically mature prospects that get over hyped, Sim has upside. Look for him to surprise some people in July.

I spoke with Sim recently and he talked about the schools that are recruiting him.

"I have offers from Portland, Boise State and Santa Clara" said Sim. "Stanford has told me they'll offer if I get in to the school. Obviously, if I get in that's a pretty good option. I've also been talking to Oregon, Oregon State and Arizona State."

We asked Sim if he plans on applying to Stanford.

"Yes, they're going to send me the application in the next week or so and I'll fill it out," said Sim. "I'm going to Santa Clara and Stanford June 23rd for unofficial visits. So I'll probably drop off the application while I'm down there. Santa Clara is also recruiting me pretty hard – I've been hearing from Coach Keating a lot."

We asked Sim if he has given much thought to the timing of his decision.

"I think it'll happen sometime over the summer," said Sim.

Sim told us he will no longer be with the Portland Panthers club team, as the team has disbanded for the summer.

"I'm going to be playing with Team Jones," said Sim. "They've got Brad Tinsley, Brian Conklin…they've got some good players."

Sim told us he currently has a 3.75 GPA.
