Jacob Ranger, a 6-4 junior shooting guard from Southern California, is a solid prospect with plenty of schools showing interest in him. Ranger tells us that schools in the WCC, Big West and Ivy League have all been in contact with him...

Jacob Ranger, 6-4 JR SG Carpenteria (Calif.) High, is an intriguing wing with a nice stroke to the stripe. Ranger plays with toughness and he's got a solid feel for the game.

We spoke with Ranger recently and asked about the schools expressing interest in him.

"I've been hearing from Wofford, Santa Clara, Loyola Marymount, UC Santa Barbara, UC Irvine, UC Davis, Penn, Portland and Portland State," said Ranger.

We asked Ranger what he is looking for in a college.

"It's mostly about the education," said Ranger. "I've always just dreamed about being able to play in college and get an education. The location isn't a big deal to me, but my parents would like to be able to see me play."

Ranger said he has been to a few schools on unofficial visits.

"I went to Loyola Marymount and UC Davis," said Ranger. "I also went to UC Irvine for a game this past season."

Ranger said he's not really close to deciding yet.

"I want to play in July and see what happens," said Ranger. "After the summer, I'll see what is out there. If I like what is there, then I'll pick a school and if not, then I'll wait."

Ranger told us he has a 3.3 GPA.
