Samuels Commits To Big East School

One of the top players in the class of 2008 is off the table. Samardo Samuels, who is ranked 6th by Scout.com, made his choice Tuesday evening and is headed to the Big East.

Samardo Samuels, of Newark (NJ) St. Benedict, made his college decision Tuesday evening, and he plans to play his college ball for Rick Pitino.

"I just committed to Louisville," Samuels said.

This past weekend Samuels took a visit to the University of Louisville. Prior to the visit, Samuels listed North Carolina as his leader, but the 6-foot-8 junior said the chance to play right away helped Louisville's cause.

"They offered me a better opportunity to play and show my talent."

"I mean it's a good school and they have good guards. They have good players and hopefully I'll be surrounded by good players and we can win a National Championship in my first year and get a lot of playing time."

Samuels picked the Cardinals over North Carolina, Connecticut, St. John's, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Florida and Georgetown.

"I'll do whatever they need me to do," he said. "Anything they need. If they need me to score or rebound, I'll do whatever. Whatever role they want me to play to make the team successful I'll do it."

Samuels can now focus on the upcoming camps and club tournaments. His upcoming schedule includes the NBPA Camp, Nike's positional camp with Amare Stoudemire and the LeBron James Skill Academy
