Shooter Generating Interest Out West

Bryce Smith, a 6-4 junior shooting guard from Southern California, is one of the better shooters in the west for 2008. He tells us he'll be attending the elite camp for a WCC program this weekend.....

Bryce Smith, 6-4 JR SG Woodland Hills (Calif.) Taft, is a very good shooter with deep range. While he needs to improve his ability to create his own shot, Smtih's ability to shoot off the catch is a definite weapon. Smith also has a solid feel for the game and he's generating interest at several programs in the west.

We spoke with Smith recently and asked about the schools that are expressing interest in him.

"I've been hearing from Oregon, Gonzaga, Portland, Santa Clara, San Diego and Penn," said Smith. "A lot of the schools in the Big West and WCC have told me that they're close to offering and just want to see me play a little more this summer."

Smith told us he'll be attending Portland's elite camp this weekend.

We asked Smith if he currently favors any program.

"I really like Gonzaga," said Smith. "I like their style of play, they're on the West Coast and they play in the WCC, which is a good league. Also, they've been competitive in the NCAA tournament." A good student, Smith told us he has a 3.5 GPA.
