Euton Picks SEC Program

In this day and age basketball prospects are making decisions earlier than ever, and that trend continued with Dakotah Euton on Monday, as the 2010 prospect is off the board.

"He did make the commitment today," Clay Euton, Dakotah Euton's father, said.

"I think a lot of it had to do with the coaching staff and the facilities, the academics and just being a Kentucky kid."

Hailing from Kentucky and growing up around Kentucky basketball played a major role in Euton's decision, however the new coaching staff factored in the most.

"I just really love their coaching staff and they are really down to earth guys," the 6-foot-7 sophomore said. "They are always cracking jokes and just always having fun. When I committed they told me that I was apart of the family now and I really liked that."

"They work really hard and there's so much tradition at Kentucky. They have one of the biggest basketball traditions in the country and I just want to be apart of it."

Although Euton is just a sophomore, he believes by the time he makes it to Lexington that he'll be able to contribute right away.

"One of the things Coach Gillispie told me is he would not take a commitment from a 2010 player if he didn't think I could come in and be an impact player. I think if I keep on working hard it'll work out good.

Euton, a standout at Ashland (Ky.) Rose Hill Christian, picked the Wildcats over Florida, Indiana and Cincinnati.
