Gillenwater Coming Home as Free Agent

Troy Gillenwater is heading back home to Massachusetts - as a free agent. The 6-foot-8 junior power forward is no longer committed to Oklahoma State and he's planning on attending Notre Dame Prep in the fall.

Troy Gillenwater has said it before, but now the 6-foot-8, 225-pound power forward is planning to go home – as a free agent.

Gillenwater, who grew up in Boston and has spent the last few years out in California, will likely play at Notre Dame Prep in the fall and also suit up for the New England Playaz next month.

``I made the decision to come back closer to Boston because this is home," Gillenwater said. "I've been in California the last two or three years and I'm ready to come back so my family can see me play more often."

``I haven't sat down with him and his people to go over what we expect of him yet," Notre Dame coach Bill Barton said. "But, in all likelihood. we will accept him if he agrees with our expectations."

Gillenwater, who was previously committed to Oklahoma State, said he's now back on the board and is taking things slow.

``I feel like I made my decision too early," he said. "I'm going to try and take some visits this time around."

Gillenwater mentioned Tennessee, Arizona, Kansas and Pittsburgh as schools that had expressed interest in the past.

``I'd like to stay on the east coast if possible, but no schools from the east coast were recruiting me," he said.
