The small forward out of Pace (Fla.) High, had considered Miami, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Kansas State and a host of others. However, it was the Gators that tugged at his heart.
"I really didn't have a No. 2," Shipman said.
The 6-foot-4 powerful wing who won a state championship this past season, has high expectations for himself once he arrives in Gainesville.
Shipman was named to the Florida 4-A first-team all-state squad as a junior. He averaged 24.8 points and 7 rebounds a game. He was also named the most valuable player in the state tournament. Plus, he's ranked No. 65 in the nation by Scout.com.
