Big News! Liggins off The Board

The news of DeAndre Liggins' decision is popping up in basketball offices around the nation. The choice isn't a surprise but few figured it would go down this week. Plus, Liggins has a new high school address as well.

The Kentucky Wildcats scored a major commitment on Wednesday. In fact, it's a real biggie because Billy Gillispie once again swung in the big leagues and knocked one out of the park.

DeAndre Liggins, Scout.com's No. 26 prospect in the Class of 2008 is headed to Lexington.

"Yeah, I committed to Kentucky today," Liggins relayed in a text message.

The pledge to UK means that Memphis, Kansas and Illinois are among the disappointed parties. A multi-position wing player, Liggins could find himself cast in the small forward or point forward role during his time on campus.

The Chicago George Washington wing recently visited campus and cited his relationship with Gillispie as the primary reason for his choice. "The coach (is the reason)," Liggins texted. "It's the perfect place for me."

Gillispie thinks so too.

Liggins also informed Scout.com that he'll be attending Brewster Academy for his senior season.
