Green Gives Spartans 3rd Top 100 Recruit

The Michigan State Spartans were the favorites to land Draymond Green and on Thursday at a press conference they got it done.

The Michigan State Spartans acquired their third Top 100 prospect from the Class of 2008 on Thursday.

Draymond Green, a power forward out of Saginaw High, was the subject of a recruiting tussle between the Spartans, Michigan Wolverines and Indiana Hoosiers. It's the first in-state recruiting battle between the two since the arrival of John Beilein in Ann Arbor.

Green (No. 72) joins Korie Lucious (No. 81) and Delvon Roe (No. 4) in what is quickly becoming another strong contingent assembled under Tom Izzo. Green's versatility as a four-man with a perimeter touch brings a different quality to the lineup.

As a junior, Green averaged 25 points and 13 rebounds. He led Saginaw to the state championship and saw his stock rise accordingly. Once committed to Kentucky under the leadership of Tubby Smith, Green re-assembled a new list when Smith moved to Minnesota and quickly found interested parties.
