Carter Eager To Be A Beaver

Sean Carter, one of the final unsigned members from the Class of 2007, found a home over the weekend. The North Carolina native is headed far West.

Class of 2007 center Sean Carter is changing coasts. The Fayetteville (N.C.) native is going to play his college basketball in the Pac-10 for Oregon State.

During his tenure in Corvallis, head coach Jay John has shown the ability to go sign kids out of his area.

"It was a long time coming," Carter's AAU coach Greg Moulden said. "He just went with what he thought was the best decision. He didn't mind going away from home. I told a lot of people that in the beginning.

"Sometimes North Carolina guys think North Carolina guys are always going to stay home. We don't mind sending our kids anywhere."

Carter, a physical specimen, transferred to Laurinburg Prep his senior season.

"He's on his visit now. He just finished it now. They started recruiting him during the Genesis One Tournament down in Mississippi. They had been trying to get him to come out for a while. They stayed with him a long time and it panned out for him."

Moulden indicated South Florida, West Virginia, Charlotte, Marist and Providence remained with Carter through the end of the process.

"The kid was comfortable with the staff, his future and the situation. It's up to him now."
