"It's true, he's committed," Hoop Planet AAU coach James Clark told Scout.com. "He was with his high school coach this weekend and I just got off the phone with them. His coach said a lot of people were calling and he wanted to focus in on his academics and get it all straight on his end.
One of the top scorers (13.3 ppg.) at the recent NBA Players Association Camp, Mitchell is likely to improve upon his pre-summer ranking of No. 67. A terrific athlete with size and range, Clark sees big things for Mitchell early on in Tuscaloosa.
"He's going to make a big impact. We've been playing him at the two guard to build his confidence.
"He's a jump shooter but it's hard to say because he's a great jumper too. He's got a good vertical and he shoots it well. This kid can put the ball in the hole. The kid can shoot the ball."
