West Coast Camp and BCA Summer Showcase

The BCA Summer Showcase and West Coast All-Star Camp had several interesting players in attendance, including Damen Bell-Holter, Guy Landry, Michael Mayes, Rodney Black and Kevin Bradshaw, among other prospects...

I spent some time at the West Coast All-Star Camp, as well as the BCA Summer Showcase, the past couple days. Here are my thoughts on some of the players who caught my attention.

Damen Bell-Holter, 6-8 SR C Van Nuys (Calif.) High. A wide body from Alaska who is moving to Southern California, Bell-Holter has good hands and pretty good feet. His arms are somewhat short, but he's got a nice touch around the basket and a good feel for the game. Likely mid major to possibly high major prospect.

Kevin Bradshaw, 6-7 SR PF Upland (Calif.) High. Good-looking young forward with a nice basketball body. Moves well and has some explosiveness. Inexperienced, but he has some upside. Someone to watch at the mid major level.

Guy Landry, 6-6 SR SF/SG Van Nuys (Calif.) High. Physically mature prospect with a decent skill level. Well put together, and pretty explosive, but a straight-line athlete. Decent shooter and he plays hard.

Rodney Black, 6-4 JR SG/SF Moreno Valley (Calif.) Valley View. Great-looking wing prospect with a very nice stroke. Long arms and may still be growing. Needs to work on ball skills and creating his own shot. Has a chance to be really good someday.

Michael Mayes, 6-0 JR PG Long Beach (Calif.) Poly. Mayes has a good frame and long arms, as well as a nice feel for the game. A true point, with pretty good skills. He's an intriguing guy in the 2009 class.

Greg Allen, 6-0 JR PG Eureka (Calif.) High. Another true point who understands the game. Nice handle and passing ability. Shot is just fair, but not too bad. Another kid to watch in 2009.
