Excellent Shooter With Grades
Remember Grant Gibson? He was the guard who was on vacation out west and flew home for Nike Camp when officials told him that a spot had opened for him? Well, he's starting to take some official visits.
"I've had a few people come in and have home visits," Gibson said. "Right now, it looks like I'm going to Loyola Marymount on Friday for an official."
LMU is just one of handful of schools that he's hearing from these days. He has significant interest in Navy, Loyola (MD), LMU, Yale, Lafayette, Lehigh and Harvard.
"Harvard, Yale and Loyola (MD) are probably my top three. I've had a lot of phone calls from Lafayette and Lehigh lately."
Obviously, academics are important to Gibson. They are important enough that he might even skip out on a Division I offer if he feels comfortable with a particular D-II program. "Abilene Christian and coach Clint Pleasant have been in touch with me. If I felt like it was the right situation for me [I'd go]. If I fell that would be better situation then I would have no problem with it."
Wherever Gibson elects to spend the next four years, he won't forget the position basketball has put him in. "I'm not really sure what I want to study. I'm thinking maybe psychology but I want to make sure I would give back to the community. I've been given a lot. I think basketball has put me in a position where I could do something with myself."
