Status Soars With Extra Year

Josh Boone was a qualifier last year. However, he made it clear that he wanted to do a little more maturing before he enrolled in college. Well, his game took off this summer and now his options have increased exponentially.

Big Man Getting Hit Up By Majors

Coming out of South Carroll last year, Josh Boone could have easily gone to St. Joseph's and had a nice career in the A-10. However, he said that he wasn't ready for college. Academically, he was more than ready but he felt he needed to do a little more maturing. Now, not only has he matured but his game has flourished.

He's a different player than he was a year ago. "It's aggressiveness," Boone said. "It's just a lot of times last year I wouldn't shoot; I'd look to pass first." Not anymore, Boone figures to be a more polished scorer this year at West Nottingham.

Right now, his recruitment deals with Rutgers, St. Joe's, UConn, Virginia, Kansas and Stanford. All have offered but Stanford's offer is pending acceptance into the school. Boone has not finished the Stanford application yet.

Last year, he took officials to Rutgers and St. Joe's. He's not sure if he needs to return there this year for visits. "I don't have any official dates set up," Boone said. "I do know that I am going to at least three of the four schools. I'll go to Kansas, Virginia and UConn; I just don't know exactly when yet.

"Honestly, I don't even know right now. It's kind of overwhelming. I'm just trying to see where I would fit best and where I'd be the happiest."

Boone will play at next week's Charlie Weber Invitational with Cecil Kirk.
