Kowalczyk Nabs Recruit
First-year Wisconsin-Green Bay head coach Tod Kowalczyk won a nice recruiting battle this week when combo forward Josh Lawrence of Ashton, Ill., selected his program.
"They had a great coaching staff and I really campus and all the players," Lawrence said. "Coach Kowalczyk is really sincere. He's a great coach and he's really going to make that program succeed a lot in the future."
Lawrence selected the Phoenix after receiving offers from numerous MAC and Missouri Valley schools. In the end, it was between Green Bay, Toledo, Illinois State and Kent State. He visited Toledo and Illinois State and cancelled his official visit with Kent State.
Lawrence will be eager to close out his high school career on a high note. Last season, he missed considerable time due to injury. "I got hurt twice last year and only played 9 full games. I rolled my ankle twice and was out for a while."
"They recruited me as a three, four kind of guy. They plan on me stepping in my freshman year and playing some big minutes."
