Texan Has Strong Summer At Point

We searched high and low for new point guard talent. Out in Vegas we stumbled upon Demetri Goodson. The Texan was getting recruited by schools already and should have a nice diverse list from which to select his favorite.

As colleges searched high and low for new point guard talent, a familiar state yielded a player likely to sign with a big program. Houston Select, a prominent AAU team out of the Lone Star State, is home to Demetri Goodson.

The 5-foot-11 (maybe) point man out of Klein Collins High near Houston, raised his profile and his stock in July. A true leader, speed merchant and dedicated assist man, Goodson's on a relative short list of available talent as his position.

"They like that I'm a floor leader and I like to win," Goodson said of collegiate interest. "I want to get my teammates involved instead of being about ‘I.'"

Who's on him the hardest? Well, Goodson says 20 schools are in the mix. We pulled Gonzaga, Texas A&M, Oklahoma and SMU out of him as the programs actively recruiting him with great vigor.

"I'm just taking all the colleges in. They've all been on me and they all can get me at this point. I'm probably in the middle (of the process)."

Word was beginning to circulate that Gonzaga was on the cusp of a commitment. Goodson said otherwise and he has no official visit dates planned thus far.

"For me it'll be to play as a freshman and get good minutes. I want a school that wins and somewhere that I can play early at."
