Three Appear To Be In The Hunt
Center Kirk Walters will take an official visit to Western Michigan this weekend. Three weeks ago, he visited Central Michigan. Then, the real big dog gets a shot at him. Arizona plays host to him on Oct. 10.
Last July in Las Vegas, Walters boosted his stock something fierce. His AAU outings at the Big Time had major programs taking a peek at this young man high on potential but short on big stage experience.
"I think just playing on the Mustangs was what did it the most. If I didn't get the exposure by going to Vegas and other tournaments I don't think these schools would be calling."
Schools aren't just calling; Arizona has offered. Walters is hearing from Marquette some as well. Walters isn't sure of their interest level. "I'm not sure [how interested] but I've gotten a little more interested since an AAU teammate (Brandon Bell) committed there. I might visit but I'm not sure."
Walters isn't afraid to leave home for college. "I think now I've realized that no matter where you go at the Division I level, you'll be gone for 9, 10 months out of the year. Now, I realize that I'll be home for summers but when it's college time you're playing ball and studying."
