Paul George Reaches Decision

Paul George, a talented senior forward from Southern California, was under the radar for his first couple of years in high school. But after a strong spring and summer, he had multiple programs showing interest. Today, he made a verbal commitment to a WCC program...

Paul George, 6-7 SR SF/PF Palmdale (Calif.) High, wasn't well known until this past spring when he really showed well in a few events. He followed that spring performance up with a strong July and, as a result, he suddenly had a lot of recruiting interest from a variety of schools.

I spoke with George today and asked him about the status of his recruitment.

"I committed to Santa Clara today," said George.

I asked George what the factors were that led him to choosing the Broncos.

"I like the coaches -- they're all great guys" said George. "I like the school. I know I can have a good career there. Also, I like the fact that there's some scenery up there, but it's not too crazy."

George said there were three other finalists in his recruitment.

"San Diego State, SMU and Pepperdine were the other main ones," said George.

George said his goal now is to help Santa Clara recruit some more players for the 2008 class.

"I'm trying to get James Rahon," said George. "Me and him went hand and hand with the Pump team -- we made a great combo."
