Thompson took an unofficial visit to UCLA last week and I asked him how the visit went.
"It was good -- they offered me a scholarship," said Thompson. "My mom and I spent about two or three hours with Coach Howland and the staff. We walked around the school, saw the dorms and the facilities. Coach Howland said he sees me as a two, with maybe some time at the three as well."
I asked Thompson which other programs have offered him.
When I asked if he has a leader, Thompson replied, "I don't really have a leader. It's still very early in the process."
Thompson talked a little about the factors he'll consider when choosing a school.
"I want to go someplace where we can win big," said Thompson. "Winning and also someplace where they can help me get better. Those are the two biggest things."
Thompson said he's not close to making a decision.
"I don't really have a timeframe," said Thompson. "It will likely be sometime in the next year, but I don't know when."
Thompson's mother has expressed a desire to see Hollis go away for college. I asked if that's still the case.
"Yes, she'd like me to go away to experience new things," said Thompson. "But it will be my decision."
Thompson is an excellent student and previously told us he has a 4.2 GPA.
