Suggs Finds His Calling Out West

Lorenzo Romar knew Scott Suggs when he was just a small boy. The relationship came full circle on Wednesday when Suggs opted to allow Romar to develop him as a player.

Scott Suggs used to play against Lorenzo Romar in the driveway of his house as a young child. Next fall, they can play one on one in a different venue. On Wednesday, Suggs picked the Washington Huskies over Illinois and Missouri.

The 6-foot-6 Suggs attends Washington High in Missouri and rolled with the St. Louis Eagles in the summer. As a junior, Suggs averaged 19 points and 11 rebounds. He was an all-metro 3rd team selection.

The commitment is big news for the Huskies who have corralled themselves 4 Top 100 prospects. In a recruiting era in which the Pac-10 is loading up, the Huskies are arming themselves for the future. Point guard Isaiah Thomas was the first pledge. Shooting guard Elston Turner, the owner of a big summer hot streak was next followed by big man Tyreese Breshers.

Suggs checks in as the highest rated recruit of the bunch.
