Witherspoon Develops List; Will Wait It Out

A solid spring and summer earned Wesley Witherspoon nearly a dozen scholarship offers, but the Lilburn (Ga.) Berkmar standout isn't in a hurry to make a decision.

This spring Wesley Witherspoon proved himself as one of the better wings in the class of 2008. His summer play with the Georgia Stars justified his place in the Top 100 and a ranking just outside the top 10 at his position.

"I think it was a great summer," Witherspoon, who is ranked No. 57 overall, said. "It was very productive. I think I did good, but I could have done better though. I felt like I had something to prove."

The 6-foot-7 rising senior did all the proving he needed to do, as college coaches began stepping it up after the April evaluation period. "[Interest] just kept growing after every tournament that we went too," he added.

The schools he's hearing the most from are George Washington, Kansas State, Fresno State, Texas, North Carolina, Clemson, Oklahoma, Virginia, Boston College, Syracuse and Georgetown.

"Actually the only school out of everybody that hasn't offered me is North Carolina," Witherspoon said.

Kansas State and George Washington both made early impressions on the talented wing and are at the top of his list. He said plans to visit both.

"Me and my mom are going to sit down pretty soon and talk about the visits we are going to make."

Witherspoon said he would like to set up some visits for the fall, but doesn't plan to make a decision of sign until May.
