Sampson Set To Take Unofficial

Ralph Sampson had UK fans whipped into frenzy when news broke that he may have snuck onto campus last weekend. Well, we're here to pass along some Lexington-related news with one of Scout.com's Top 100 prospects.

As it turns out, Ralph Sampson was not on Kentucky's campus last weekend as many speculated. BUT, he will be this coming weekend.

"We were talking to the assistant coaches and I spoke with the head coach and he was telling me about Kentucky and their campus and their basketball team," Sampson told Scout.com. "He wanted me to come up to campus and me and my mom talked about it and decided it would be a good idea to see it and get an overall feel of it."

UK is just one of many programs courting the rapidly developing prospect who is the son of a former NBA standout. The 6-foot-11 Duluth (Ga.) Northview big man has Minnesota, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Maryland, Clemson, South Carolina and Auburn angling for his signature.

"I'm still gathering information but I'll be narrowing mine down pretty soon," Sampson said.

Sampson has been to Minnesota and Georgia Tech. Could he decide without the benefit of official trips? "I think I still will need some. I'll need to see how the player's play and the coaching style and the atmosphere between the players and the coach."

Sampson indicated he had set up a few official trips but was unsure of the dates.
