Guard Headed To Atlantic-10

Andres Sandoval is a prospect. He's fast, still learning the game but continuing to improve. Now, he's tabbed an Atlantic 10 program to further his basketball education.

Sandoval Picks Richmond

Andres Sandoval was impressed by the way Richmond recruited him. In the end, it was the Spiders' approach that really made an impression.

"Coach Wainright said that ‘you're our guy and we are going to wait until you decide,'" Winchendon coach Mike Byrnes said. See, Richmond committed itself to Sandoval long before the guard committed to them and the approach was a hit.

The Spiders won out over George Washington, Rhode Island, Tulane and East Carolina. For their hardwork, they get a guy who can really turn up the tempo of a game and get to the rim in a hurry.

"He's just talented," Byrnes said. "He can shoot, he can handle it and he can pass it. He's got a good body and great height. He's a well-rounded, talented guard. The upside is very strong for the kid."

Sandoval really turned in a fine summer with his AAU team and that shot his stock up quickly. "As long as he stays tough; skill wise, talent wise he has it," Byrnes said.
