Ezeli Settles In On SEC Program

Most of the time programs don't receive good news in the form of a late signing, 6-foot-10 center. On Tuesday, the papers arrived at the headquarters of one SEC program and a potential post-grad standout was bound for college.

According to a source, the Vanderbilt Commodores are the owners of a signature from a late blooming Nigerian big man. Festus Ezeli, a 6-foot-10, 250 pound center, signed scholarship papers with the Commodores this week and is set to make his way to campus by week's end.

"He will be at school this weekend," the source said.

Ezeli, a potential red shirt candidate, experienced a prospect awakening this summer at Reebok U. His presence and subsequent performance had programs scrambling to access information about him. There was talk of attending prep school but the academic minded Ezeli got his transcript in order and opted to make Vanderbilt his home.

Working off the assumption that Ezeli would prep this coming season, Scout.com rated him the No. 14 post-graduate prospect in the nation. The late bloomer will turn 18 in October and according to a recent newspaper article, has yet to play a full season of organized basketball.

It's tough to get better this late in the game but this certainly has the markers of an exception.
