Pitts Develops List

With a thin list of point guards available, Damier Pitts is getting interest from a good mix of schools. The 5-foot-10 point guard is developing his list and is in the process of setting up visits.

Of the top 40 point guards in the class of 2008, only 11 are still available, so each lead man left on the list is getting hounded by college coaches. Damier Pitts, who checks in at No. 39 on the list, is certainly getting his fair share of interest as well.

Two weeks ago Pitts took a trip to Tampa, Fla., to check out South Florida's campus. The 5-foot-10, 160-pound senior-to-be saw the campus, met the current players and talked with their coaching staff.

"It was real good," Pitts said about the visit. "They have a nice school and a nice campus. They told me that I'd have a good situation if I went there. It was pretty nice. I liked it."

To go with South Florida, Pitts also has interest from South Carolina, Illinois, Oklahoma, Marshall and West Virginia. He claims scholarships from the Bulls, Gamecocks, Thundering Herd and Mountaineers.

"I've talked to pretty much everybody's head coach," Pitts added.

Prior to making his final decision, Pitts is hoping to set up a few official visits. "I'm supposed to be going up to Illinois and I'm thinking about going to Oklahoma for an official visit when school starts."

Pitts is in the process of transfering to Chatham (Va.) Hargrave Military Academy this season.
