Temple Lands Tidewater Area Standout
At one point in time, Temple was all over Mario Taybron. Then, for whatever reason they went in a different direction. Things came full circle when Dwight Brewington committed to Providence last week and the Owls rekindled their interest in Taybron.
"They were always recruiting him but they had another guard that they were recruiting," Boo Williams assistant Corey Turner said. "Temple thought he was set on going another way. The guard they wanted broke his commitment (Brewington) and Temple called the next day. It brought his spirits up and he committed that Saturday."
In fact, Taybron visited last weekend and Temple coach John Chaney is headed South to conduct an in-home visit with him on Friday.
"I didn't have to tell him that he's going to be playing for a Hall of Fame coach. They might as well be a Big East team as much as they are on TV. He has an opportunity to start and they really, really want him. He was their main guy and then they thought they couldn't get him and got sidetracked."
Well, the Owls aren't sidetracked anymore.
