Gabriel Still Fielding Interest

Forward Ken Gabriel relocated to another Charlotte area program. Meanwhile, colleges are still feeling him out heading into the fall.

Ken Gabriel, a 6-foot-7 power forward out of Charlotte, N.C., has transferred high schools. He'll follow Shaun Wiseman, his coach, from Hope Christian to United Faith, also in Charlotte.

While he settles in at his new school, colleges are settling on decisions to offer the combo forward.

"I think Michigan and Penn State are going to come down here to talk to my family," Gabriel said. "Michigan tells my mom that when they come down here they're going to bring a scholarship with them. Penn State was talking like they were going to offer."

Winthrop is definitely in the mix. Clemson has had him on campus and continues to recruit and evaluate him. Old Dominion and Xavier are also worthy of mention at this stage.

Next up is transforming the interest into offers. Gabriel would prefer to decide early in the fall. "I'm kind of excited but kind of nervous. I want to get it over with but I can't get it over with as soon as I want to get it over with.

"I want a play where I can come in and play and get a lot of minutes. I don't want to sit the bench. I'm looking for a good relationship with the coaches."

Up next for Gabriel will be showing well at workouts for United Faith. The workouts could prove critical toward his decision and programs thoughts on offering him. "It's kind of in my control but it's not. It's half and half. I want to do it before basketball season if I can."
