Decision On The Horizon For Garcia

All the information has been gathered. Angel Garcia, a Scout.com Top 40 player, will make his decision before October and two schools are in contention.

The word on the streets is that Angel Garcia, a native of Puerto Rico, is down to a pair of programs. The 6-foot-10 power forward out of East Chicago (Ind.) Central is ranked No. 36 by Scout.com.

"He's pretty much going to make a decision between Indiana and Memphis," CAPS All-Stars coach Eric Cole told Scout.com. "Those are the two guys that have been on him since the start. Both of those teams traveled out to Serbia to watch him in the FIBA U-19. They really want him because they traveled halfway around the world to see him."

Cole said that while Garcia is close to deciding on a program, he won't need any official visits. "(Coach) Cal came up 2-3 times during the school year and Coach Sampson came as soon as he was off restrictions.

"He's been to both places. He's been to IU 3-4 times and he was down to Memphis 3-4 days for their elite camp. He's seen what he needs to see."

The timetable for a selection is flexible. Could be a week, could be a month but a decision prior to October makes sense.

"I think he's just kind of sitting back and thinking about where he's going to feel most comfortable. I think both programs fit him well."
