Sutton Has Loyalty To Big East

Maurice Sutton has a favorite. One Big East coach trailed him all summer and now Sutton says he's being loyal and counting them as his leader.

Maurice Sutton, a 6-foot-10 center out of Upper Marlboro (Md.) Largo, has himself a favorite from the Big East Conference.

"Right now I'd say Marquette, definitely," Sutton told

Sutton, who said Marquette has offered him, is into loyalty and Tom Crean hasn't wavered in his pursuit. "They've been sticking with me through a whole lot. A couple AAU teams I've been with, sometimes they didn't play me. Coach Crean was always right there in my corner. He was at most of my games in Orlando and I got a lot of playing time. He was basically at every game."

Sutton, a long, angular shot blocker who is a bit more prospect than producer at this stage, wasn't completely thrilled with his AAU play. "I couldn't say I was disappointed with it. The playing time I got, maybe I was disappointed. I think I did pretty good with the playing time that I had. Sometimes it's frustrating but that's no excuse."

Regardless, Sutton has high interest from Miami, Clemson, Tulane and Duquesne.

"To separate them I'd say who is going to put in the time to work with me? I'm looking for playing time and what school will help me maybe if basketball doesn't work for me."

Sutton indicated a desire to sign early but if need be, will leave his options open. To date he does not have any visits set up.
