"I'm really busy right now," Schaen said. "School and basketball are taking up a lot of time. Mater Dei, we're ranked #1 in the country, so there's a lot of pressure there. And having to decide about a college right now would probably be too much."
Schaen took official visits to three Pac-10 schools last spring – USC, Stanford and Arizona. He then tripped officially to Princeton and Penn about a week and a half ago on successive days while he was back east playing in an event back east. "I had a really good time at both Princeton and Penn. Princeton was scenic and gorgeous. Penn is in Philly and I like that. I liked both of them."
Schaen said he's still getting mail from all the schools he visited, but that the interest from the Pac-10 has seemed to wane a bit. Despite having used his allotment of five official visits, he's also still considering Yale and Santa Barbara. "I have an in-home visit set up with Santa Barbara and I'm going to visit there unofficially," Schaen.
When asked if he was leaning toward the Ivies, Schaen said, "I would think so. I mean, they're Ivy League schools. They're hard to beat."
One thing that is delaying Schaen's decision is the fact that he hasn't finished applying to the Ivy League schools he's considering. "I'm filling out my Yale application right now," Schaen said. "I already applied to Princeton and I'm waiting to hear back from them on the application. I'll wait until I hear back on all of the applications before I decide."
Is there one school that really stands out to him at this point? "Not really. Honestly they all have so much to offer. I don't know if I can go wrong."
