"I think my recruitment has gone up a lot," Holsey, a standout at Sparta (Ga.) Hancock Central, said.
Holsey's increased interest was due to a strong effort on the court this summer. His performance at Nike's Peach Jam was one of his better efforts, as he showed an effective low post game against quality competition.
"I think I've improved a lot from last summer," Holsey said. "I still need to improve my rebounding and play more aggressive. Overall I think I improved from last summer to this summer and I think I played pretty well."
His play warranted a scholarship offer from Xavier's coaching staff. The early offer and the way they've recruited Holsey, has the Muskeeters in his top three with Clemson and Georgia Tech.
"Xavier told me that I'm their number one prospect in the class of 2009," Holsey said. "Clemson they call all the time and ask me how I'm doing. They want me to visit, but I haven't had time to visit. I talk to Georgia Tech a lot and they want me to visit too."
"I think I'm looking for a good academic program," he continued. "I'm not saying I have to start, but I'd like a school where I could come in and play. Xavier, that's a program that I'm liking a lot."
Although Holsey didn't mention them in his top three, Holsey has some interest in the Georgia Bulldogs as well. This coming weekend he is planning to take an unofficial visit to Athens to take in their football game against South Carolina.
