Nick Thompson, 6-7 SR SF/PF Clearfield (Utah) High, is a versatile prospect who has been somewhat under the radar. A good athlete, Thompson has a chance to play either forward spot in college.
I spoke with Thompson recently and he told me that he's down to three schools.
"Pacific, Pepperdine and Weber State are the main three," said Thompson. "I'm taking an official visit to Pacific this coming Saturday and I may take a visit to Pepperdine the following weekend. Weber State is just fifteen minutes away, so I can go there any time."
I asked Thompson what the important factors are in his decision.
"I want someplace where I'll fit in and somewhere that I can win and have a part in it," said Thompson. "I'm not expecting to be a key player as a freshman or sophomore, but hopefully I can work hard and earn some minutes. Then maybe play more minutes as a junior and senior and help the team win games.
Thompson said he should be ready to make a decision fairly soon after his trips.
"I think I'll be ready to decide in late September to early October," said Thompson. "After I get done with the trips, I'll sit down with my coaches and family. I should be ready to make a verbal commitment and then sign in the early signing period."
Thompson said he's doing fine academically and he'll have no trouble qualifying.
