Clarke Contemplating Visits

Rotnei Clarke's recruitment is slowly winding down. The 6-foot, 170-pound guard has started taking visits and is in the process of scheduling a pair of trips to Southeastern Conference programs.

Every recruit is given a limit of five official visits during the recruiting process and Clarke is starting to figure his trips out. He took his first official visit this past weekend.

"I visited Gonzaga last week," Clarke, a standout at Claremore (Okla.) Verdigris, said. "It was a really good experience for me."

Clarke, who is also getting interest from Arkansas, Oklahoma, Tulsa, Oral Roberts, Oklahoma State and Kentucky, is planning to visit at least two other schools.

"I'm supposed to be going to Kentucky on October 12th," Clarke said. "I might be going to Arkansas on the 21st, but I haven't set anything up officially."

The Wildcats have already had Clarke on campus once. He took an unofficial to Lexington in late June and came away with a good impression of what Kentucky has to offer, but he wants to see a little more.

"I want to tour their campus and get to know a little bit more about them. I really like their fan base and the tradition of the school is obviously really good. From what I've seen from the coaching staff it's a good staff as well."

Arkansas is also under heavy consideration, as he's built a strong relationship with their head coach. If he trips to Fayetteville, it won't be his first time there. He has family in the area and is already impressed with their campus.

"I have a pretty good relationship with coach Pelphrey and my Grandma lives down there so I've gone on campus a couple times and they have a nice campus and everything."

Clarke, who is classified as a four-star prospect on Scout.com, said he didn't have a timetable for his final decision.
