Pritchard, Roe About To Become Foes

It's not often – unless you're Oak Hill – that your high school frontcourt boasts multiple high-major signees. This year's St. Edward team has just that in Delvon Roe and now Tom Pritchard, who committed to a Big Ten power Monday night.

The St. Edwards frontcourt will spend one more year together in the high school ranks. Next fall, Delvon Roe ( No. 2 PF) and Tom Pritchard (No. 40 PF) will go from teammates to adversaries. Roe will sign with Michigan State and Pritchard verballed to Indiana Monday night.

"That's going to be really weird," Pritchard said laughing about facing his high school and AAU running mate.

The Hoosiers, already sitting on a strong class, bolstered their frontcourt after Pritchard picked IU over Penn State, his other finalist. The senior began the spring as a mid-level player but slowly worked his way up the recruiting ladder and finally reached the penthouse in July.

"I really did not think I would get to that level and then I just went out and played basketball the way I play and the summer worked out for me," Pritchard said. "I got some bigger interested and IU was the place for me. I really like Coach Sampson and what he's got going on there. The atmosphere there is just great."

Pritchard said Sampson praised him for his basketball IQ and thinks his game will mesh well with the current players and incoming recruits. The coach lauded Pritchard for his passing ability. Pritchard admitted, the process took its toll on him.

"I think it was difficult the whole way. I got back and thought they both were great schools. That night I stayed up and thought about and I knew IU was the perfect fit for me."
