2009 Introduction: Keegan Hornbuckle

Keegan Hornbuckle has two olders brothers that are players and now it's his turn to shine. The youngest might be the best of the bunch and he's drawing plenty of early interest from colleges...

Keegan Hornbuckle, 6-6 JR SF North Hollywood (Calif.) Campbell Hall, is definitely someone to keep an eye on in the 2009 class. Hornbuckle has always had a nice stroke, but he showed signs in July of improving in the other areas of his game. He's started to grow into his body and he's becoming a more explosive athlete. He's got a chance to be one of the elite small forwards in the west for 2009.

I spoke with Hornbuckle recently and he said that a number of schools have been expressing interest in him.

"I'm hearing from several schools in the WCC – Gonzaga, Pepperdine and Santa Clara," said Hornbuckle. "Also, Arizona State, Washington State, Washington, Arizona, Cal, SMU, UC Santa Barbara and Colorado are some of the other ones."

I asked Hornbuckle if any schools stand out for him at this time.

"Definitely Arizona State," said Hornbuckle. "Also, SMU and Colorado. Those schools have been showing the most interest and I have interest in them."

Hornbuckle said one school has offered so far.

"Santa Clara talked to (Campbell Hall's) Coach Kelly and I guess they pretty much offered," said Hornbuckle.

Hornbuckle said a few schools are coming in to see him at Campbell Hall.

"Santa Clara was in on Tuesday," said Hornbuckle. "And Cal, SMU and Washington State are coming next Tuesday."

I asked Hornbuckle what he is looking for in a college.

"A nice campus, a school that gets good fan support, where they play in a competitive league and do well in that league," said Hornbuckle. "Location isn't really important, but I'll probably stay on the West Coast, unless there is an East Coast school that I really like."

Hornbuckle said he's in no hurry to make a decision.

"I'll probably narrow it down to a few schools after my season is done," said Hornbuckle.

Hornbuckle said he has a GPA of 2.9.
