Lamar Patterson opened up some eyes with his play on the circuit this summer. He had solid showings at the Nike Hoop Jamboree, RBK U and in Las Vegas. Although coaches weren't at Hoop Jamboree, they certainly saw him at the later two.
He mentioned his ability scoring ability as one of the main reasons that coaches have taken notice. "I'm a pretty good shooter and I can pass a little bit at the two guard spot," Patterson claimed. "I've got pretty good size for my position so I'm a pretty good rebounder too."
Recently the 6-foot-5, 220-pound wing, took an unofficial visit to an in-state school. "I took an unofficial visit to Penn State," Patterson said. "It was nice. I liked their campus a lot. I went when they played Notre Dame. That was a real good game."
The other in-state school, Pittsburgh, has tried to get him down for a visit as well, but he hasn't found time to take another trip. Although both Penn State and Pitt are working him relatively hard, Patterson said he'd have no problem leaving the state.
"It really doesn't matter to me," the Lancaster (Pa.) J.P. McCaskey standout said. "I'm open minded."
Patterson, who is rated as a three star prospect on Scout.com, doesn't plan to make a decision anytime soon.
